Thankfully there wasn't a lot to choose from, any many of these disqualifications has been \"by accident\" so to speak, but they are all very dramatic anyhow. I think it was also kinda shitty that Nadal himself didn't say anything to Wawrinka upon his return. He was being booed and came in with his shirt off, so he must've known something was up or he was just milking that medical time. If I had gone off court the first thing I would do when I come back is apologise to my opponent. Also, you never see a player who's winning do this, coincidence?

All these people saying that Nadal lost because of the injury just stfu. He lost because he was outplayed by Stan. I bet you if he was winning he would never have gone off, no hate for Nadal maybe yes he was injured but he didn't lose because of the injury, he lost because Stan played better.

What a jerk this umpire Carlos Ramos is! Wawrinka had an extremely valid point, as the rules do say so, otherwise any player could just call go to the locker room, rest a bit, recollect their thoughts, disturb the opponent's rhythm. That's what Nadal always does: when he's losing, either he starts taking interminably long between points (wiping sweat, pushing hair behind ear, pull shorts out from anus, etc.) or just calls for a medical timeout. When he's winning none of this seems to take any time.

I don't think I agree with the statements here. Carlos Ramos is considered one of the best umpires of tennis, along with the other portuguese Mariana Alves. I assume that this is because of his outstanding knowledge of the game. http://www.theportugalnews.com/news/portuguese-umpires-prominent-once-more-at-wimbledon/28739 I think there is something more about this case and it is rather simple. Assuming that a player has an injury, he should have the option to let know or not about it, otherwise the strategy of the opponent might change and it would possibly be to attack a new "weak point". If he has a roller bandage it is pretty clear and there's nothing to do about it. If he doesn't have, and he didn't need one, the opponent should not have to know about it. At 2.12 the umpire says: "No, it's between him and physio for the moment"(I agree with this) The only thing that there is to do is the umpire to validate the timeout according to the physio's opinion and consideration. I think nothing wrong happened in here.

Players do this all the time against Nadal too. Djokovic did it in the past several times. Federer did it before the fifth set at the AO two times. Nishikori even took a shower and was gone for 20 minutes during the olympics when they had to play the final set for the bronze medal without a reason he just left.

Personally feel that during this adverse awkward moment, Stan grew into the Champion that he truly is! His anger, belief & perseverance carried him on to Victory, He showed & demonstrated this in the 2016 US Open semi's against Kei Nishikori,

Why does Stan have a French accent if he is Swiss? It's almost as pronounced as Monfils.

Well a Groin problem is tough on any court. But, it's not always Groin though, is it? once it's Groin, then a knee, then a Stomach virus, then a hamstring, then his back, then Appendicitis... All signed off by a GOOD Doctor.
Dwight Stewart

+Sean Ruane .. Use a little common sence. The guy has a groin problem, which is why he has problems on clay courts.

Stan should have left the court, gone for a nice lunch, and let the ref & the tournament go to hell.
Sz Ki

James Coyne 100 % agree. It shouldn't even be called gamesmanship because it's basically cheating. Rafa has abused the rules of the game too many times but refs and tournament director's have done him a lot of favors. it's time they grow a pair and make it fair!
James Coyne
James Coyne
+Dwight Stewart The Tournament and its representatives (Referee, Supervisor of Referees & Tournatment Director) are obligated to immediately inform the opponent (in this case Stan) of the nature of the injury in cases of player medical time-out. This Referee and the Tournament chose not to. This is violation of the Tounament Rules and Stan had every right to get up and leave the court. It was all a cheap bit of gamesmanship on the part of Nadal to interfer with Stan's momentum. That's why the rule is in place.

didnt Nadal do here what he wanted? Or am I missing something?
Dwight Stewart
Dwight Stewart
+allboutthemojo Okay, I'm not going to argue. You're making a lot of assumptions that I'm just not willing to make. The rules, and reasonable accommodation, apply to all players equally. He's not the first player to leave the court, and won't be the last, so no reason for you to get all upset about it.
Sz Ki
Sz Ki
+Dwight Stewart that's not a mistaken belief. Isn't Rafa doing what he wants by taking a fake injury timeout because he's being whooped and wants to disrupt his opponents rhythm? what about when he was repeatedly violating time rules between points without being called for it? and what about the illegal on court coaching from uncle Tony? Djokovic throwing his racket and almost hitting someone in the front row , and pushing the umpire when he came out to point a mark on the court this clay season? incase you haven't noticed or chose not to, these two monkey's have been allowed too much leeway. murray to with all his drama!

I think if a tennis player is injured they should have the choice to either forfeit or keep playing. If they keep playing and get even more injured that is on their part and is their choice to either keep playing or quit. Leaving between a match should be disbanded because of stalling.
