Police say drugs were near two former U.S. Navy SEALs found dead on the Maersk Alabama, their families disagree.

How The Navy SEALs Died On Captain Phillips Ship

How The Navy SEALs Died On Captain Phillips Ship\n\nThe container ship Maersk Alabama has seen a lot of drama.\n\nIt was attacked in 2009 by four armed Somali pirates, who took the ship's captain, Richard Phillips, hostage on a lifeboat. That gripping tale came to Hollywood in the form of the 2013 film \"Captain Phillips.\"\n\nThe ship survived another pirate attack in 2009 and yet another attempt to board the vessel in 2011.\n\nAnd now: Two former Navy SEALs, hired as security officers on the 500-foot vessel, were found dead aboard.\n\nSeychelles police say the autopsy found the cause of death to be \"respiratory failure, with suspicion of myocardial infarction (heart attack).\" The presence of a syringe and traces of heroin in the cabin have led to a suspicion of drug use, police said.\n\nMore than a week after their bodies were discovered, many questions surround the deaths of Jeffrey Reynolds and Mark Kennedy, both 44 years old. Why did they die together? How did the drugs and syringe get into their cabin? What series of events contributed to their deaths?\n\nSuch questions are made more mysterious by friends, family and others who knew the men and told the New York Times that after their years in the military, they had readjusted well to civilian life.\n\nThe night before their bodies were discovered, the men went to two bars, followed by two casinos, the New York Times reported, in Port of Victoria, Seychelles. New York Times reporter Ian Urbina told CNN's Brooke Baldwin that according to staff where the men are said to have been on that night out, Reynolds and Kennedy were \"outgoing\" and \"having a great time\" and drank tequila shots and vodka with sailors from New Zealand.\n\n\"The two (former) Navy SEALs ended up closing that (second) casino and were politely asked to go at the end of the evening,\" Urbina said.\n\nSurveillance images indicate that they met two women in the hall in front of the second casino and \"walked down a dark corridor\" with them, Urbina said.\n\nA colleague who had gone to check in with one of the men in a cabin found them at 4:30 p.m. February 18, Seychelles police said.\n\n\"It's bizarre. Of course, it's a shock. They're all great guys,\" said Tom Rothrauff, president of Trident Group, a Virginia-based maritime security services firm that employed them. \"I'm absolutely clueless as to what happened.\"\n\nAlthough substance abuse is a known problem among veterans, acquaintances of Reynolds' and Kennedy's told the New York Times they were shocked at the idea that either man had used heroin.\n\n\"The description of the two men from friends and family was in stark contrast to what sounded like a pretty hard partying night,\" Urbina said.\n\nA neighbor of Reynolds', Monika Connelly, told the Times that the Reynoldses did not drink alcohol. Another neighbor, Paul Bell, called them \"church people.\"\n\nBoth Reynolds and Kennedy had children and \"seemed to be family men,\" Urbina said.\n\nBodily fluid samples from the two men are being sent to Mauritius for further analysis \"to establish if they had consumed a substance which may have induced these events,\" Seychelles police said in a statement.\n\nLt. Cmdr. Jamie Frederick, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman, said the service was investigating the deaths, as required by American law. But he said the deaths \"do not appear to be criminal in nature, related to vessel operations, the material condition of the ship or their duties as security personnel.\"\n\nThe ship arrived in the Seychelles on February 16 with a 24-man crew. It was expected to leave two days later.\n\nThe Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, has one of the highest rates of injection drug use in the world, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (PDF), with 2.3% of the population engaging in this behavior.\n\nKevin N. Speers, a senior director for Maersk Line, said in a statement that the security contractors boarded the vessel January 29 and that their deaths were \"not related to vessel operations or their duties as security personnel.\"\n\nThe Maersk Alabama is \"persistently in high-risk areas since she provides feeder service to the east coast of Africa,\" Speers said in a statement.\n\n\"Contracted security is part of anti-piracy protection plans to safeguard crews and vessels,\" Speers said.\n\nBut according to The New York Times, Reynolds and Kennedy told friends that on the open sea, the real enemy is boredom.

BACKGROUND
A German-flagged container ship headed straight towards shore and briefly ran aground in Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon (April 6, 2014).
The 192.5-meter-long Hansa Constitution was travelling along the busy East Lamma shipping channel when it suddenly veered off course.
The Hong Kong Marine Department said the ship's main engine broke down.
People familiar with the shipping industry say the captain and Hong Kong maritime authorities decided to the best course of action was to beach the vessel to prevent it from colliding with other ships on the busy shipping channel.
The crew dropped anchor at the last minute, making loud screeching noises, to slow Hansa Constitution as it headed straight towards the sea wall outside the University of Hong Kong sports grounds in Pok Fu Lam.
The ship ground to a halt at around 15.22 local. It then slowly reversed, as Marine, police and fire services rushed to the site. It was eventually towed free. No one was injured.
The ship was travelling from Yokohama in Japan to Chiwan port in Shenzhen, China.

As a Martial Arts teacher for over 30 years I have seen the damage caused by pharmaceutical and street drugs on relatives and on a great number of students in Brazil and specially here in the USA where the Big Pharma rules. People are being bullied by these corporations of drug-dealers into submission. Martial Arts will teach a kid to stop any bully in the playground, EDUCATION and INFORMATION will stop these drug peddlers from bulling you and your family. There are many natural alternatives out there to treat anything that is bothering you, just do a research on the subject.
This is a Documentary and will provide the facts about psychotropic drugs and the huge profits they create for the pharmaceutical industry. These drugs are not safe and have not been on the market long enough to provide sufficient long term studies regarding their effects. These drugs do cause addiction, however most \"doctors\" would call this dependence because you do not have to take an increasing dose over time. They are completely fine with you being addicted to the same amount of any given drug on a daily basis. Over half of the people that commit suicide in the United States are prescribed to psychotropic drugs. (Ex: Paxil (Paroxetine), Zoloft (Sertraline), Prozac, Wellbutrin (Bupropion), Effexor, Seroquil, Ultram (Tramadol), etc.)

Two American security contractors found dead on 'Captain Phillips' ship

Originally published on February 20, 2014

Two American security contractors were found dead on Tuesday (February 18) on the Maersk Alabama, the same ship featured in the Tom Hanks movie Captain Phillips.

According to CNN, the bodies were found by a colleague at around 4:30 p.m. while the ship was moored at Port Victoria in the Seychelles. No details were given as to how the two men died, though a senior director for Maersk Line Limited said in a statement that their deaths were \"not related to vessel operations or their duties as security personnel,\" Reuters reported.

The two security contractors, both 44, worked for Trident Group, a Virginia-based maritime security services firm. The company's president, Tom Rothrauff, said the men were former Navy SEALs, CNN reported.

According to Reuters, they boarded the Maersk Alabama and joined the ship's crew on January 29. The ship berthed in Port Victoria around midday on February 17.

Maersk Alabama is part of a U.S.-flagged fleet controlled by Maersk Line Limited, a unit of A.P. Moller-Maersk, which performs military, government and humanitarian missions by transporting cargo on its container, tanker and multi-purpose ships, according to the company's website.

The ship was targeted by Somali pirates in 2009 who attempted to hijack it off the east coast of Africa. The incident was the subject of the movie Captain Phillips directed by and Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks.

Somali pirate arrives to face charges in hostage-taking of ship captain

(21 Apr 2009) SHOTLIST\r

2. Car arriving\r
3. Sole surviving pirate from the hostage-taking of American ship captain is escorted into building by FBI agents and New York policemen\r
4. Men walking past police officer, into federal building\r
STORYLINE\r
The sole surviving Somali pirate from the hostage-taking of American ship captain Captain Richard Phillips arrived in New York on Monday, smiling for a gaggle of reporters and cameramen as federal agents led him into custody to face charges in the attack.\r
Abduhl Wali-i-Musi was handcuffed and had a chain wrapped around his waist. \r
His left hand was heavily bandaged from the wound he suffered during the skirmish on the ship two weeks ago.\r
The smiling teenager seemed poised as he entered a federal building in a rainstorm, but he did not say anything in\r
response to reporters' shouted questions about whether he had any comment about the pirate episode.\r
Wali-i-Musi is the first person to be tried in the United States on piracy charges in more than a century. He was\r
flown from Africa to a New York airport and taken into custody ahead of a court hearing on Tuesday.\r
A law enforcement official familiar with the case said that the teenager was being charged under two obscure\r
federal laws that deal with piracy and hostage-taking. \r
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the charges had not been announced.\r
The teenager's arrival came on the same day that his mother appealed to US President Barack Obama for his release.\r
The age and real name of the young pirate remained unclear. \r
The mother said he is only 16 years old and is named Abdi Wali Abdulqadir Muse. \r
The law enforcement official says he is at least 18, meaning prosecutors will not have to take extra legal steps to put him on trial in a U.S. court.\r
The suspect was taken aboard a U.S. Navy ship shortly before Navy SEAL snipers on the guided-missile destroyer\r
USS Bainbridge killed three of his colleagues who had held Captain Richard Phillips hostage.\r
The U.S. officials said the teenager was brought to New York to face trial in part because the FBI office here has\r
a history of handling cases in Africa involving major crimes against Americans, such as the al-Qaida bombings of\r
two U.S. embassies in East Africa in 1998.\r

Nightline host Bill Weir discusses the true story behind Captain Phillips.   \r
\r
There's a real life war going on right now on the open seas between actual pirates and the American mercenaries being paid big bucks to fight them off. \r
\r
Dan Harris explains: "Moviegoers are taking in the story of Captain Phillips. Tom Hanks plays the man from Vermont. His commerical ship was attacked by pirates in the Indian Ocean in 2009. But some of the men on board the real Maersk Alabama  are seething at this heroic protrayal. They're suing the shipping line, arguing that Captain Phillips ignored warnings to stay 600 miles from the coast of Somalia. The Maersk  Alabama  was only about 250 miles away... because the route saved the company money."  \r

Prisons documentary children in prison for life sentence – Documentary & Discovery HD Channel ™

Kids aren't always cute and harmless so keep a good eye on your children! Here are 20 kids you forgot committed horrible crimes.

Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos.

10- Joseph Weil – This conman started his criminal career at just 17 years old in the 1800’s. He was an infamous protection racket man and loan sharked, and eventually started selling rainwater under the guise “Meriwether’s Elixir.” He was never arrested or convicted of any crime, but he lived and died a conman – at the ripe old age of 100 years old!

9- Jesse Pomeroy – In 1874, at just 11 years old, this problem child sexually tortured and molested up to seven other boys. He soon turned deadly, and after that he killed and mutilated a 10 year old girl. He was sentenced to just 40 years of solitary confinement – the maximum sentence at the time for someone so young.

8- David Brom – David Brom was just 16 years old in 1988, when the seemingly normal and average teenager took an axe and bludgeoned his entire family to death while they slept. He killed his parents, his 14 year old sister and nine year old brother. The next day at school it was business as usual, and he even bragged to a friend about the murders. He’s now in prison serving a life term.

7- Jasmine Richardson – In 2006, Jasmine Richardson was talked into killing her parents and eight year old brother by her deranged boyfriend. At just 12 years old, Jasmine stabbed her parents so many times her father was drained of almost all his blood. She then slit her brother’s throat while he slept upstairs. She was charged with first degree murder, but has since been placed in a mental hospital.

6- Brian Blackwell – Wanting to appear to have more than he had was the motivation behind this next crime. Brian Blackwell took out credit cards and loans in his father’s name to appear to be wealthy to his friends. When his parents found out, Blackwell beat them both with a hammer and then stabbed them to death. After the murders, he whisked his girlfriend away on a lavish vacay to NYC and Barbados. He was later sentenced to life in prison.

5- Eric Smith – 13 year old Eric Smith lured 4 year old Derrick Robie to a park where he then strangled him and beat him with two large rocks before sexually abusing and mutilating his body. Smith was found guilty of second degree murder and received the maximum sentence for someone his age – 9 years to life.

4- The Menendez Brothers – Who could forget the Menendez brothers – Lyle and Erik. In 1989, the brothers used a shotgun to kill both their parents in cold blood. The 21 year old and 18 year old became the center of all media at that time and the trial was covered and followed relentlessly. The pair were convicted and sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole.

3- Edmund Kemper – So, at 15 years old, Edmund Kemper murders his grandparents and says he had no regrets. He’s then held in juvenile hall and released 5 years later. Surprise, surprise – he went on to murder and dismember eight women (including his own mother) over the following five years. The real crazy part (pun intended) is that a panel of psychologists still labeled him no threat to society! Kemper has to tell the parole board each time he’s up that he isn’t fit to be released.

2- Mary Bell – Mary Bell had a rough start to life. Her mother tried to kill Mary many times when she was a baby and also began prostituting her out to men at the age of four. At 11 years old, Mary strangled a four year old boy to death and then months later she strangled a three year old boy, killing him as well. She went on to mutilate the three year old body and to carve the letter “M” on his stomach. She was condemned to live in a mental institution, but was released after just 12 years. She was released at the age of 23.

1- Larry Swartz – In 1984, Larry Swartz, then just 17 years old, killed his adoptive parents by stabbing his father with a steak knife and beating his mother with a wood-splitting hammer. This case was so sensational and drew so much attention that it was turned into a best-selling book called “Sudden Fury” and made into a TV movie starring Neil Patrick Harris.

Most importantly no matter what happened this is sad as hell!! Unfortunately as much as I believe our Government is corrupt AF; I'm always suspect of the "clean cut" guy! We all have weaknesses! Heroin is a bitch!! They're calling it a national epidemic I mean so these guys could both easily be highly functioning addicts! But WTF you sincerely can't wrap your heads around this? A couple of bored, middle-aged, married guys going out ad going out getting drunk and high and getting some whore??? You're an idiot!! Guys are pigs!! We l love women and CRAVE doing bad shit!! Drop these guys thousands of miles from anyone they know, with lots of money in their pockets from their new contractor jobs after being used to crap military pay?? I think I can imagine it!! LMAO!!

There is absolutely NO possible way these two heroes were main lining drugs. A person would have to be physically and mentally ill to be injecting drugs and it would show up in various ways. I am astounded that the other Navy Seals would tolerate their team mates to be spoken of in this way. Not only were these two elite fighting men murdered, their names were also by staging their bodies in this light. Their families have to live with their deaths and their slaughtered reputations. It took a lifetime of great struggle and perseverance to build their honorable reputations but only an hour to destroy them. I pray that an honest investigation will resurrect their honorable names. Our country owes them that. Don't let the Navy Jags ring the bell on this investigation.untill our boys names can come home and be buried with honor,..

The idea that these guys were junkies is BS.... There is zero history of drug abuse and their level of honor as Seals would not allow this type of behavior. These two operators stumbled upon something and got killed. Make no mistake.

The Seychelles are a possible piece of the 370 story. Maldives, Diego Garcia and a few other islands are all about 2500 miles from Malaysia.  And the big guy had to use drugs like Steroids, PED's to be so muscle bound.
